Sunflower Recollection - Palette Knife

This painting started life, like this!
But I looked at it and it just didnt feel right
I wanted to create something light, loose and jolly

Out came the palette knives!

Sunflowers always make me recall long drives through the french countryside
but also fond memories of people and special friendships.

I feel I have hit my goal with this painting joyful yet loose with vibrant hues
of yellows and blues stir the happy emotions

Butterfly Love Story

Butterfly Love Story

I read a epic romance novel and was so sad when it came to a end, the book was tatty, it had been
read so many times before but I wanted to some how keep those special
pages with poems and beautiful words, making them be seen and enjoyed more.

I came up with this mixed media concept, I have always enjoyed adding news paper
clippings to canvas ( City news, Paper rush, Words of time)

22" x 22" Square on deep profile canvas
Pasted on before varnishing

Close up of words

There are many layers to this painting, before and after varnishing

In Natural light

Without flash in dark light

Look back at 8 years of supercosmic art

In the last few months I have been exploring new ways to express my art and techniques in the quest to find my niche in the art world.

It was August 2008 that I really started my path back into art but it was right from a little girl I adored painting & drawing but my parents never encourage it and so didnt have the luxury of plain paper or colourful pens but still I used the back of old envelopes & biro's, I have always been resourceful like that! As a young adult I did a art foundation course and then a drawing studies class Hampshire college in 2003, it was only after moving to Wales that a door opened to jump back into art world again.

So in 8 years what have I learnt?

The camera is artwork biggest enemy, it is so hard to capture the mood, depth and colours in artwork with a camera lens, I have tried so many different ways and failed, every one say's the artwork is so much better in real life!

People are fickle, one day they will love poppy paintings the next day seascapes or nudes, so at the end of the day I try not to get to upset when I post a photo of a painting that I am proud off but get no reaction, they do not understand the story behind it or the lessons I have learnt while creating it

One big lesson was not to use cheap product's it is reflected in your work, I am especially passionate about colour and cheap paints do not have the dense colour pigment, I use Liquitex professional high grade, it cost's a lot but I get the results I need

When my art teacher, Susan Crossman-Jones said to me ' Your art is good enough to sell, She never said that I would have to become a ninja with the sellotape and inventive with cardboard boxes or that I would have to put more hours trying to promote my art then painting it!

I do know that I don't want to be a commercial artist, I have always painted for my own personal enjoyment and that the end piece is just a by project of my own artistic adventure.

What's next? I want to go back to painting with oils but the set up cost's is vast and so I need to be confident that my artwork is of a good enough standard to warrant the outlay.

I have a dream that someone will walk into my life, tell me my artwork in incredible and they would like to be my agent, I will no longer have to worry about purchasing / selling / storing or promoting, I can spend each day in my studio painting to my hearts content and exploring all those creative thoughts without guilt feelings of waste!

Even in the art world my disabilities and having dyslexia have held me back but I still maintain that 'ART HAS NO BOUNDARIES ' and hopefully all will be good in the end!

Below are some of work from over the 6 years, theses are pieces which have significance for example being the first or a big learning leap,  hope you enjoy ....

Turning to the masters
Yes it's a progression of an art student
we must all learn from our fore fathers

And then theres the nudes, My first love
Yes I admit it, I love painting naked ladies
I would do it over and over again, why?

Because the woman, her curves, folds of skin, lumps bumps and boobies
are amazing, it is one of the most beautiful thing in the world
I love the shadows, skin tones, light and darks of the woman's body.
