City News

First layers going down, the news paper is a reproduction
prince of a Victorian print

City News

Acrylics on Canvas
12 x 31.5"
I have had this item playing around in my head while
I would love to go a little more while with it & if I ever paint it again
I will try to go another step out of my comfort zone.
Art is like life, each new step you take you learn a little more.

I tried this painting on a smaller scale, which we named capitol news.
I got really good feedback from it & that gave me the confidence to go a bit bigger
& bolder

Still working on the paint layers, it took roughly
3 weeks to produce this painting
waiting for bits to dry before proceeding.

Photo without flash, again waiting for a layer to dry
before proceeding

Finished painting

I have painted round the sides so it doesn't require
framing

close up of buildings, you can just about read the
Victorian print articles

Working with mixed media is fun & you can get some
really interesting pieces of work

The painting will be finished with a final layer of varnish
to protect from dust & damp
before being ready for sale.

Art & upcycling a clock!

My daughters clock fell from the wall and cracked the rim
she was very upset, so I suggested with some car body filler
we could fix it, paint it into a marble effect, although I have done faux marble
before, never in black!

we sprayed it with matt varnish, which deepend the finish.
Happy with the result.

The Hare & The Moon

My friend asked me to paint her a hare painting
I loved the idea, I do love painting hares!

Two Fairy Paintings

I thought I would try something totally out of my comfort zone, paint fairies with watercolours.
It's true as an artist it's good to push your boundaries, try something new, play around with silly idea's / subject.
I thought I would try it with watercolours, using 140 Lb cold press

Base layers in, salting done
I really had to stop & think before painting
with Acrylics you paint from dark to light.
with watercolours you paint from light to dark!

At this stage I had to walk away & come back at it with fresh eyes

Finished, happy -

Elfin, The Potion Keeper
She holds the knowledge to everything you seek.

Eirlys (snowdrop) The Promise Maker

Mixed Media, Watercolour, Salting & Acrylics
On Watercolour Paper
140 Lb Cold Pressed (NOT)

Most of the painting is done with watercolours
green , phthalo blue & yellow hues

I like her elf like features, she looks like she is up to no good
but she promises you that wishes will come true if
you believe!!

New 2016 painting - City News

Athough I started this month back, I couldn't quite get it right so I had to keep
leaving it & coming back to it.
I plan to do this painting on a larger, long canvas & now I know
what I want to do with it, I am happy

I started with the background below, applying layers to get the depth
of city haze.
Acrylics mixed media on very thick board
allowing me to keep it wet for longer.

A Special memory from Bristol Balloon Fiesta

So my very first painting of 2016 is complete & it's one of my favourite memories of 2015
the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.
This painting is the view after the hot air balloons ascended and floated down the valley.
