Avebury

Avebury - Acrylics on Textured Canvas

Avebury is a Neolithic henge monument containing three stone circles, around the village of Avebury in Wiltshire. Unique amongst megalithic monuments, Avebury contains the largest stone circle in Europe, and is one of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain, second only to Stonehenge.
However un like Stonehenge, it's free to visit, you can also walk round and touch the stones
In the area you can also see the West Kennet long barrow and Silbury Hill

My painting wasn't premeditated it came about just after my visit to Avebury, my sister suggested
we should paint together, I had no idea what I should paint but I was very inspired by Avebury, trying to capture
it's magic and essence..
I hope I have done this?...

First Painting of 2014 - A Winters Sunset

A Winters Sunset

Well here you have it... The first painting of 2014, Mixed Media on boxed Canvas
it is pretty much from my head,  I wanted to try something that had deep texture with winters warmth
in the hope of drawing ones eye in towards the focal point.

Test Of Time

It seems like years since I put brush to canvas, I thought it would feel alien but it didn't, it came,
flowed liked it always has.. I started this piece about this time last year before everything got all to much and I packed up my easel walking away.
I am not going to make a sudden return to painting, my studio is now gone and so has the passion.
I have given this 20 x 30 Cm painting the title ' Test of Time'
A leaf grows, taking goodness from its host and begins to changes colour until it is at its prime
around height of summer. Then returns what it has
taken, wilts, recedes with one final blush of colours waiting for a kiss of wind to set it free
from the tether it has dearly held on to all it's life and float gracefully to the earth..
Where it starts it's final chapter of life, This is where my painting starts, a autumn leaf adorned with
the sparkle of morning dew..

Acrylics on Canvas - with Enamel Paints
It has a pink to purple back ground, Textured
with the slight raised Enamel paint, you get alittle bit of sparkle and magic... Very Enchanting piece which would look lovely in any bedroom or pastel Living room...

The Spider & The Ladybird

The truth is I haven't really painted in a while not what I call 100%, where I relax, switch off and let my mind
wonder, I have just been painting for the sake of painting until I started this piece.
It was all inspired by this photograph a friend sent me, knowing I have a fondness of ladybirds!

This is what came of it... The Spider and The ladybird..
Acrylics on Canvas 24 x 20"
