Hear the Aqua Fearie in the eve when she sends her dew to cool the ground

Harold Hare Continues...

After the enjoyment of doing Harold and the Bee
I decided to do some more... I think I will call it a day there
As much as I enjoyed doing it... People kept saying you would make a brilliant
illustrator artist, This is not the direction I want to go with my art.

A New Dawn

A New Dawn
Acrylics on Board

This painting came out of no where I had been looking at a photo of a field of poppies
I went to my studio to paint and suddenly this concept came into my thoughts
I have been trying for years to paint in dabs a little like Monet, I love Monet's work but find
it hard to paint like him. So the sky is dabs but the landscape is bold sweeps of the brush
with vibrant colours ' a new dawn has begun'
While I painted this I thought of my mother, she never knew art would dominate my life so
much I wondered what she would have made of if all, would she have liked my work,
supported it or thought it was a foolish waste of time and money, I will never know...

Beep Beep

Funky Moped

Mini Trio

I feel it's good to be versatile, my father always said he was a 'Jack of all trades and a master of none'
Bit like me really, I seem to dabble is so many things but never quite becoming the master of it!
I was introduced to Pen and Wash in my watercolour course, I knew the technique so didn't bother to wait for the rest of the class, just jumped in two feet first with the generosity of a fellow class mate who gave me the correct pen, sadly my art is a luxury hobby and I can't always afford all the toys!
After a series of paintings I did these two to try something different, the Moped's came from a photo taken by a friend in Thailand and the Mini's belong to acquaintance..

Elephant Family

Teko

Sibling Rivalry

I painted some more Elephants this time on small canvasses one of Teko the baby, he is also the one on the left of 'Sibling Rivalary' .. Teko is a young bull elephant, his mother Sahha and his older sister Jenny.

Sahha has to walk between the two siblings because Jenny has played a little to rough with Teko, She is 5 years older then her little brother and doesn't know her own  strength yet

I decided to leave painting Elephants there and conclude the elephant phase, for some reason these paintings are not commercial and have not sold

Elephant Period

Mali - Bull Elephant

Sahha - Cow Elephant

In The first month of this year I had a period painting Elephants, I can't say they are my all time favourite animal and I have never even touched one, something I would love todo more so ride one!
However, there is something about the roughness of the skinm there size and beauty that attracks me to painting them
I did  these two on Daler board in Acrylic and love them both very much.

Coracle

Today I joined Coracle, this is my Profile page
http://www.coracle.eu.com/artist/create/286

What is CORACLE?

Coracle is a partnership led by University of Wales Trinity Saint David with Wexford campus IT Carlow, Wexford Arts Centre and the County Councils of Carmarthenshire and Wexford. This programme of cross border activities develops higher-level skills to increase employability and commercial competitiveness among Creative Practitioners in South East Ireland and South West Wales. The Foundation of this development is the provision of courses from higher and further education partners.

On regional and national levels the strengthening of the infrastructure of the creative and cultural sector is key to sustainability. The delivery of an MBA degree in Professional Arts Management by the two higher education institutions working in partnership addresses that need by equipping key individuals with the business skills to manage elements of the creative industries strategically.

The MBA is supplemented by various business and vocationally focused short courses and hands-on workshops. Also the sharing of knowledge and best practice through exchange projects, internships and informal but intense mentoring relationships.

Central to the project is this social-media driven website that provides the unique opportunity of a multi-media portfolio space for creative practitioners.

The over-arching theme of the Coracle is that of festival. Arts festivals serve as platforms for creative practice and showcases for the skills development achieved by this investment in the creative industries. Arts festivals also contribute to the added cultural value of the regions’ economies and impact directly and positively upon cultural tourism and the hospitality industry.

Harold Hare And The Bee

I had been toying with the idea of painting a hare for a while but in my head it was going to be more real, I spent a night sketching hares from reference photos until almost to the end I came up with a illustrated hare and loved it
Originally there was two with a daisy between then but I like this version the best
My first attempt was acrylic on board building up layers and so the very first Harold painting was completed

If I had Words to Make a day for you..

If I had words to make a day for you,
I sing you a morning golden and new
I would make this day last for all time
Give you a night deep in moonshine

Some of you might know these words from the film 'Babe'
however the lyrics and song date back to 1977
westlife also used them.

I don't know how these words came into my head one day
but I found such a beauty and comfort in them
I had had to paint a painting for them
here is is.. This painting is like marmite you either love it or hate it!

I love it!

Afternoon Stroll

Afternoon Stroll

This piece was given as part of my watercolour course, I changed it with adding the old couple into it
Pen and Watercolours loose work.

I pictured an old couple going for an afternoon stroll to work of the lunch and to ease those aching stiff joints.

Bridal Flowers

Acrylics on Canvas
It was my sisters was my sisters fiftieth birthday today, I looked for ages to find her a special present but failed.
So I asked her for suggestions or would she like me to paint her a painting.
Thinking she would ask for a Provence poppy scene or Portugal village nestled in a valley
However she asked me to paint her bridal flowers, Oh my golly, nothing what I would ever consider by my love for my sister and always liking a challenge!
I am not 100% happy with the end result but I tried my hardest - three weeks work!

Her roses were called Patience's

Llangadog, Black Mountains

Mixed Media with Sheep wool that graze the Black Mountains

Acrylic On Canvas

Cowslip -
Llangadog

I love the drive from Upper Brynamman to Llangadog, when you reach peek you get the most amazing views over the valley then you hit a super hair pin bend, which deserves a handbreak turn in a classic sports car.
slowly you make your way down toward Llangadog, first over the bridge then turn again to which you look back up at the bridge.... Superb!

Herleva Of Falaise

This Acrylic painting of Herleva won an award ( I am still amazed!)
Herleva of Falaise... one fateful night in 1027, when an embalmer's daughter found herself having a strange dream that began with an enormous tree bursting out of her belly, and ended as the tree quickly overshadowed the surrounding Normandy before throwing its darkness across the water, and on to England.
The fact that this young girl had, it's believed, conceived that very night the child who would be known as William The Conqueror..

Below are some supposed portraits of Herleva

Monet's Haystacks

My Version of Monets 'Haystacks'

Many years ago a part of a course we was told to copy a painting style of a painter we admired the most mine was Monet, I decided the haystacks looked the most easiest and set about working on this small canvas board ( about A4 in size) I was in for a shock, hours turned into days, days turned into weeks I still had not finished it, those tiny dabs of paint each one a different shade. Finally my tutor took over explained and showed me, when I did totally understand I had an epiphany and a whole new level of respect for Monet...
I still have this piece, although offered for sale no one has ever seen in it what I do...
So here are my haystacks inspired by Monet....

Cornfield Poppies

Cornfield Poppies
Acrylics On Canvas

Poppies are always associated with remembrance
not just those that died in wars and battled but those that endure all of life's battles
for me when I paint poppies I remember my parents and there prickly marriage that lasted 42 years
When it counted there bond grew thicker and to the bitter end they had each other.

Miss U .. Mum & Dad....x
